– Il est impossible d’ignorer le froid qui s’abat ces derniers jours sur la Belgique. Pour autant, de nombreuses personnes sont à nouveau condamnées à passer la nuit dehors. Depuis 8 ans, l’association Cultures & Communications met à disposition de SDF une tente repliable, transportable, recyclable qui offre de l’intimité, isole et protège durant les grands froids. Une solution d’urgence pour l’hiver à laquelle vous pourriez participer solidairement.

– Le nom du projet ? « Orig-ami ».

– Pour la huitième saison hivernale consécutive, l’association Cultures & Communications reconduit son opération Orig-Ami. Il s’agit d’une distribution d’abris en carton résistants aux intempéries hivernales pour les sans-abri dans les principales villes de Belgique : Bruxelles, Liège, Namur, Charleroi, Anvers. L’idée de ces tentes légères transportables est née lors d’une rencontre avec un sans-abri qui récoltait des cartons pour se confectionner une hutte intransportable.

– Depuis 2021, le projet ORIG-AMI innove en distribuant une tente en carton pour deux personnes, un matelas isolant et un sac de couchage contre un parrainage d’un montant de 30 euros. Le système de pliage des tentes en carton a été modifié et facilite leur transport. La surface extérieure des tentes possède un film protecteur et les tentes peuvent tenir plusieurs mois à l’extérieur. Le carton est un excellent isolant thermique et sonore. Les tentes offrent intimité et protection à leurs utilisateurs. Les sacs de couchage de grand froid sont conçus pour tenir sous zéro degré.

– La crise pousse plus de personnes dans la précarité ;

– Aujourd’hui, l’association lance donc un nouvel appel à solidarité.

– La crise de ces derniers mois a poussé aussi dans la précarité un nombre croissant de personnes. Le nombre de sans-abris s’annonce pour 2024 une nouvelle fois catastrophique. Il s’agit souvent de femmes avec enfants, de handicapés, mais aussi des personnes ayant un emploi, mais dans l’impossibilité financière de (continuer à) se loger. « Aujourd’hui, rien qu’à Bruxelles, ce sont plus de 7500 personnes, dont 25% d’enfants, qui dorment sur les pavés. Le nombre de  » SDF  » a doublé en dix ans. Une situation inacceptable dans la capitale de l’Europe qui serait, pourtant, en mesure de les prendre en charge.) », explique l’association.

– La distribution d’Orig-Ami est une démarche qui tend à faire face aux urgences. Elle ne peut en aucun cas être considérée comme une action structurelle visant à réduire le sans-abrisme. Cette démarche vise avant tout à répondre aux besoins de milliers de personnes qui n’ont pour lieu de vie que la rue. Et tient compte d’une réalité bien concrète : pour diverses raisons, une franche significative des sans-abri ne fréquente pas les refuges qui manquent d’ailleurs souvent de places lors des périodes de grand froid. C’est pour cette population que nous vous proposons de financier un abri et un sac de couchage pour la somme de 30€ « , explique l’association Cultures & Communications qui lance aussi un appel au Politique pour trouver des solutions durables.

– Outre ses maraudes, ORIG-AMI collabore avec plus d’une trentaine d’associations de terrain à qui elle confie des stocks de matériels adaptés aux températures hivernales. L’été, l’association récolte sur les festivals comme aux Ardentes à Liège, du matériel qu’elle recycle et distribue : tentes, sacs de couchage, matelas, nourriture…

– Cette année, des dessinateurs de BD se sont mobilisés pour créer une bande dessinée intitulée  » 100 bulles pour sans-abri « . BD qui a déjà permis l’achat et la distribution de 1000 kits. Un apport réel, mais qui ne suffit pas, les besoins augmentent d’année en année.

– Devant la crise COVID et les conséquences du conflit en Ukraine sur l’économie, le nombre de sans-abris ne cesse de croître. Une franche de la population, les plus précaires, tombe dans le dénuement et la pauvreté. Nous ne pouvons pas rester les bras croisés, à attendre que les autorités prennent tous les sans-abri en charge. Il est inconcevable, au XXIe siècle, dans un pays aussi riche que la Belgique, dans la capitale de l’Europe, que des laissés-pour-compte passent leurs nuits dans la rue, à même les pavés. Devant la précarité qui s’installe, chacun de nous peut connaître le même sort et tout perdre. Ce ne sont donc pas des exceptions ou de simples accidentés de la vie. Il est de notre devoir d’assister les plus faibles ici ou ailleurs, dans l’attente de mesures concrètes et durables. Orig-Ami est notre réponse d’urgence à la situation de précarité connue par les plus démunis de nos compatriotes, précise l’association.
